Name of the Training Programme  – Induction Training for the newly appointed Special Metropolitan Magistrates

Total Duration –                 2  weeks

Basic Structure of Induction Training

Part – I:  Initial 3 days of Institutional Training at the Academy.

Part–II: Followed by Practical Training of 1 week with the Metropolitan Magistrates.

Part – III: Last three days of Reflective Training to address issues arising from Court placements.

4.

Computer Training

      During Institutional Training in the Academy, the Trainees shall be given one-hour computer training every day in the post noon session, where in they shall learn basic operations of Computers and their use in the Court Proceedings, Case Management and Docket Management.

 


 

Refresher Course/Training Programme for Special Metropolitan Magistrates dealing with Petty Offences

 

Need Assessment:     Huge arrears of Challans and petty offences are a matter of concern and so, it is necessary to sensitise the Special Metropolitan Magistrates and to build their capacity for expeditious disposal

 

Objectives: (i)   To improve the skill and enhance the knowledge of the participants.

(ii)                To bring a change in the attitude of the participants through sensitisation about the problems of litigants

(iii)               To make the participants understand the importance of Effective Case Management & Case Flow Management

(iv)              To apprise the participants with the relevant legal provisions for speedy disposal

 

Duration: 2 (Two) days in the post-lunch session from 2:00 P.M. to 4:30 P.M.

 

Target Group: (i)        Special Metropolitan Magistrates dealing with Traffic Challans (STA)

(ii)                Municipal Magistrates

(iii)               Special Metropolitan Magistrates dealing with Petty Offences

 

Number of participants:         25 (to be nominated by the High Court)

 

Curriculum:     (i)         Judicial Ethics.

(ii)        Offences and Penalties (Motor Vehicles Act 1988, Petty Offences, etc.)

(iii)       Maintenance of Records, Issuance of Summons and Procedure

(ii)                Case management and Case Flow Management

(iii)               Court Conduct

(iv)              Group discussion on speedy disposal of such cases – causes of delay & remedies thereof
